This men’s shirt I bought at mister + lady for only EUR 9,90 and pimped to a halter-top. Fits great with jeans and since it is relatively long, the pimped T-shirt can be perfectly combined with leggings.
Materials and tools – for this DIY project you need:
A men’s shirt (mine is Gr. XL)
some fabric in a matching contrasting color (for the decorative flower I took a sleeve of a black t-shirt;-))
Rubber necking (prefer something wider, so that it does not constrict)
Satin ribbon (about 1m)
Sewing kit, or sewing machine
DIY Step 1
Since we miss the t-shirt a Tubetop cut, sleeves and neck are cut off. These emphasize the shirt smooth and secure with pins top and sides can be seen along the future seam lines as the image.
DIY Step 2
Now cut the sleeves and neck with 1 cm seam allowance. The material residues cancel because they are needed later.
DIY Step 3
On one side, remove the pins, turn the T-shirt to the left and smooth again.
DIY Step 4
Now is sewn with the sewing machine, the first page. Then remove the pins on the other side and sew together the front and back again.
DIY Step 5
Now you can cut away the now superfluous seam allowance along the seam.
DIY Step 6
At the new Tubetop the necking is fixed temporarily with some rubber pins in consideration of 2cm seam allowance and taken down.
DIY Step 7
The determined position for retracting rubber hose is fixed with pins.
DIY Step 8
Now, the retraction can be removed rubber.
DIY Step 9
Now the tube is sewn. In order to be able to move the rubber band can be a few centimeters of the tube open unstitched.
DIY Step 10
The rubber necking draw with the help of a safety pin through the “tube” and then sew together the ends of the rubber hand.
DIY Step 11
Finally, sew the open part of necking rubber hose.
DIY intermediate result:
So the shirt looks from the front.
And so the shirt from behind looks.
The t-shirt is now finished except for the vehicles, now the “Deco Flower” of two differently colored circles is crafted and the satin ribbon.
DIY Step 12
The first circle should be slightly larger than the second. I took a CD cover for the first circle.
DIY Step 13
For the second circle you can take a glass. Then cut both circles.
DIY Step 14
To make something more authentic the “Deco Flower”, I have outlined the first (larger) circle with the sewing thread in the T-shirt color and a zig-zag stitch.
DIY Step 15
The circle in the center fold and cut a half circle inside as in the picture.
DIY Step 16
To form from among a flower, ruffles are generated in the inner circle with a hand seam.
Repeat the same to the second circle (yellow flower) and then both flowers placed on each other and sew together.
DIY Step 17
The satin tape is folded into a loop and fixed in the center of the flower.
DIY Step 18
The finished flower in the middle and sew the loop on the T-shirt.
DIY Step 19
For the halterneck straps from fabric scraps cut out and sew together two long ribbons. After that, the bands contract in length, so that the substance “completes” and make a knot at each end. Thus, the carrier stay in shape.
DIY Step 20
Now attach the carrier under the flower in the middle of the T-shirts. DONE!
